Art is subjective and it’s value is found in the way that moves you when you lay first glance on its imagery. And when it captures you, you are a tad bit cooler and better off than before it met your gaze. This was my experience while in Austin, TX for SXSW, I became very fond of two artists; one of which is none other than Lone Star Native, Michael Fuchs.

Fuchs’ art draws from the inspiration of psychedelia, illustration and graphic design. Having a love affair with art design since high school, after graduating from Texas State University; Fuchs opened up a graphic design company by the name of Under Pressure, which specializes in printing and t-shirt design.  Under Pressure soon gained a dynamic footing in the Austin, TX music scene and built its reputation for creating some wicked commemorative posters for festivals and bands. The colors he incorporates are so vibrant, they even glow in the dark.

When I first came into contact with Fuchs’ artwork, I was memorized in a trippy way. After meeting Fuchs in the flesh, his art made even a greater impression as before we are artists, we are human beings first. Fuchs is a proud artist and avid worker according to his father, who Tash and I met while gawking at his son’s work. “I have never met someone who works as hard as he does” exclaimed Fuchs’ father. These are the words that any parent would love to say about their child.

Fuchs is not necessarily a super coveted artist, but with his insatiable work ethic, humble demeanor and impeccable support, we are sure to see him grow to new heights. This is the core of what the HEART of COOL movement is about – real artists that are dope, whether the world knows they exist or not because we most certainly do!  “I have never met someone who works as hard as he does”, exclaims Fuchs’ father, Jim Fuchs. These are the words that any parent would love to say about their child.
