Most known for her artist book, Happy Birthday to You, this week’s heART of cool Art Tuesday artist, Anouk Kruithof, reveals her multilayered and interdisciplinary exhibitions and books in a way that effortlessly creates an organic conceptual, social and photographic performance that exposes the intersection between books and art. A writer, photographer and truly Dutch, Kruithof has discovered quite naturally how to merge her love affair with writing and literature with her acute ability to create photographs, installations, artist-books, texts, sculptures, ephemera and performance moments that make you say, “WOW, now how on earth did you do that?”

The depth and layers of her creativity shine so many brilliant truths about her artistry. One of which is the most important; and that is her ability to be authentic and stand in her truth as she manifests and projects the artistic imprint that she wants to leave on the world. It is within this realm of authenticity, that one truly produces something that truly reflects how unique, rare and special they are, offering artifacts on the planet that will forever be embedded in culture.

The Academy of Art & Design St. Joost in Breda is where Kruithof received her early training. In 2008, she also completed her 1 year artist residency at Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin; and a couple of years, after ventured to NYC to live and truly work as the dynamic and original artist and writer she always was and always will remain to be.

So check out Kruithof’s laundry list of accolades on Wikipedia below if you are a stickler for your art facts; but more importantly, take a minute and really take in the incredible artwork she has created thus far.
