One thing I absolutely cherish and love about Alicia Keys, other than the fact that she is authentically talented and true to herself, is the other invaluable truth. And that truth is the beauty and courage in which she sings about her real life experiences and the enlightened perspective that is brought forth from those original moments that she graciously shares with us. For this is the content that really matters and is truly uplifting and inspiring to THE PEOPLE.

Keys’ messaging in her latest single released last Friday, “Blended Family (What We Do For Love),” is delivered in a manner that impacts and enrichens the soul, while providing perspective for a better world that is rooted in forgiveness, love and progress. And as opposed to focusing on cars, money and sex like most of the music in popular culture; she selects to use her platform to echo songs of love, peace, originality and triumph when it comes to the challengings non-traditional families edure. And, quite frankly, she does it effortlessly.

The track is juxtaposed against a melodic guitar sound packed with lyrics that personalizes Keys’ experience with the blended family she and Swizz Beatz created against much criticism as Swizz Beatz was still married when they fell in love in 2010.

Despite the criticism of infidelity and being a “home wrecker”, Keys truly rose above it all. She publically  dedicates the song to the two of Beatz’ children letting them know how much she loves them and how special and beautiful each of them are while apologizing for the messiness behind the union and assuring the kids that their mom and her are ALL good and on the same team, supporting each other faithfully. Keys unapologetically declares that it is indeed, LOVE, that bonds ALL of them together. And it is because of LOVE that the family will be forever united.

With 40% (Spotlight Statistics) of married couples in the US bringing children into their new union from a previois marriage, “Blended Family,” is an excellent and relevant track that speaks to the 100 million Americans that are very well acquainted with step relationships. I mean, let’s face it. The broken families that are left after a divorce present many challenges and often impact the children that are caught in the middle, leaving them damaged and confused about who they are and how special and beautiful they are.

It is outstandingly beautiful to see Keys provide a different narrative that perhaps lends some insight on how to navigate through the transition that re-marriages bring from a high vibrational standpoint, rooted in the highest vibration on the planet and that is, LOVE.

As Huffington Post eloquently writes, “Beautiful things can come from complicated beginnings.” Thank you Keys for your voice and the love that your body of work conveys! You get the heART of cool stamp for sure!

“Blended Family” is Keys’ 3rd single off of her 6th album, which will be released on November 4th.

Read below to see two very high character quotes from both Keys and Mashonda, Beatz’ ex wife.
