HOLD UP. WAIT A MINUTE. AND STOP THE PRESS. Why? Because Russel Simmons’ new yoga lifestyle studio, Tantris, is the truth, the way and the light 🌞 as far as yoga is concerned. Located in the lovely region of Beverly Hills, Tantris is currently my favorite place in LA. Talk about plush, fashion forward and interior decorated to the 9. The spiritual home to so many now that Simmons has created this jewel is unparalleled. He, as a mastermind, has truly built a masterpiece, housed in one of the most robust (toxic 😷) cities in America: LA, CA.
Tantris gives you the best from organic juices and Kombucha served in their cafe; to a yoga boutique filled with divinely cool workout gear that captures the essence of the yoga lifestyle and all that it embodies along with a book store that sells books that break down the spiritual science behind yoga, meditation and breath work; to even a beauty salon; whatever you need, Tantris has you covered.
The hot yoga rooms are AWESOME: hot and so beautifully decorated. I felt like I was in Tibet. The heat was so detoxifying that you could just sit in the room and meditate and break out in a healthy sweat. But don’t worry if you have to be sharp and classy for your next appointment after your yoga class, you just jump in a cold shower that Simmons made sure to ensure that you would have access to and carry on about your day after your short and sweet yoga retreat.
The teachers are diverse and the classes are vast. Whether you want traditional yoga music or Hip-Hop, you have options when it comes to Tantris and can select the best vibe for you or try them all. They even have “Soul Sundays” every Sunday where you are taught a particular set of yoga principles and then you practice those principles and eat delicious vegan food.
So, to sum it all up: there will never be a dull moment at Tantris. Simmons did not miss a beat and has seriously all bases covered when it comes to this beautiful escape in the hustle and bustles of LA. As a Hip Hop lover, who did my dissertation on Hip Hop & how the artistic medium was a vehicle for identity formation and social change during the apartheid movement in South Africa, I know exactly who Russel Simmons is. And it is beautiful to see that Simmons never ceased being becoming better and better as he has evolved gracefully; grew in wisdom and made a conscious decision to share that growth and wealth of knowledge with the world in an authentic and magical way.
So, remember, the next time that you are brainstorming about which yoga studio to go to next, you Tantris should most definitely be at the top of your list.
Love & Light,
Cristen M. Mills
